NYXL, a NYC Esports and Video Game Entertainment Company

While at NYXL, I was in charge of the @NYXL parent brand social media, in which I wrote copy, scheduled social media posts, and organized content. While my official role was Social Media Coordinator, I found myself filling other roles as needed for the organization to flourish publicly outside of just social media. I was the main source of communications for the YXL Project, in which over 1000 Creators competed in a contest to be in the top 10 and win a $50k Creator Contract with NYXL. Furthermore, I consistently emailed and interacted with the Overwatch League as the representative of the Excelsior team.

Below, you can find more details of my experience and examples of my copywriting.

Social Media and Copywriting

I am very accustom to copywriting for social media using different brand voices. I’m privy to social media platforms and the way they work, such as the Instagram reels algorithm and the mixed media format on Twitter. At NYXL, I wrote copy and coordinated content on the Airtable social media calendar. I used the Twitter Media Studio and the Facebook Creator Studio to schedule content on Instagram and Twitter. I also uploaded and organized Youtube content, posted and sometimes created Tiktok videos, and filled in any role necessary to maintain a positive public relations.

Analytics and Data Collection

The NYXL/Excelsior/Subliners used the analytics and data collection software “Sideqik” to track their success on social media. Every month, I was required to collect all the metrics and create a cohesive document measuring all the social posts from the month. This required manually entering data from hundreds of video Tweets as well. Then, the team would use this data to approach the next month on the social media.

General Design Skills

I used Adobe products such a Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro to edit professional content for our social media as well as create memes surrounding current events. For the YXL Project Livestream on Twitch’s Los Pollos’ channel, I created the main slideshow shown on screen to display each applicant’s video and information. I also used Photoshop to create memes of current events and Lightroom to edit professional photos for social media posting.

Influencer and Community Management

I created the YXL Discord and used it to connect our YXL Creators and moderated their interactions, if necessary. As the main source of contact within the organization, I handled private information discretely such as the collection of vaccination status and legal name/address, as well as gave advice on travel, housing, and what to expect. I answered questions and direct messages promptly whether they were sent at midnight or during regular working hours. At the bottom of this page, I have attached reviews of my community management from some of the Influencers that have worked with me.

Sponsorship Deliverables

While with NYXL, I was an integral part of the social media content coordination. This included writing social copy for our players’ sponsorship deliverables as well as formatting or editing graphics for the best presentation on social media. I used Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro.

To the right is an example of a sponsored activations I wrote and posted. This was a collaboration between NYXL, custom PC maker Brparadox, and the NBA star and esports investor Kevin Durant.

The #YXLProject and YXL Creator Camp

The Young Creators Project was an open contest for any creator in the United States to win a full-time Creator Contract with NYXL. I was the main source of communications between the NYXL org and the individual creators.

After the 25 Finalists were chosen, my duties became related to Influencer Management while also maintaining the same (if not elevated) level of social media presence and duties as before.

While filling this role, I was quick to answer any questions asked of me, even if they were sent very late at night or early in the morning. I handled private information among all 25 creators as well as organized and coordinated social media analytics data to support the project. I created a few Google / Excel sheets dedicated to understanding each individual Creator at a personal level and how the NYXL Brand would benefit from their addition.

Call of Duty League Major 4, Jul 16-18

I helped cover and put on the CODL Major 4 in Brooklyn. Dubbed “KingsWeekend”, at the event I created stories, managed influencers, and checked that all the sponsorship-related content was accounted for. In particular, I was xoCheerGurlox’s main source of contact and made sure she was prepared to go on screen on time. I also helped pass out giveaway items, coordinated with the people within the box office, and made sure everything went smoothly. Some of the sponsored stories I created are in the above photo reel.
